After achieving top A-Level grades and coming in the Top Five GCSE results at my school, I graduated from Durham University with a 2.1 in BA Accounting and Finance where I was also the President of the Durham University Business Society in my final year. I previously held university offers to study at The University of Warwick and The University of Bristol. I currently work as a Financial Analyst in the Investment Banking industry in the City of London, where I am also studying for the ACCA qualification (7 out of 14 exams complete).
I am very passionate when it comes to Mathematics, Economics, French and Accounting; averaging over 84% in all of them at A level.
Whilst the Head Boy at my previous school, I often used to help out others in the top set mathematics group to understand key concepts around the subject -fundamentals such as algebra, trigonometry and number theory.
This was further developed at my sixth form college where aside from being the President of its Economics Society, I was also a 'Mathematics Tutor' at the Maths Workshop; this was to help out students from different year groups at different levels with their maths. Thus, this ranged from students who were not so confident in their mathematics but wanted to achieve and gain the grade they needed for higher education, to strong and able students who wanted to get the top grade at A level.
I have been tutoring all throughout my college, university and now professional life.
Thus, as having prior experience to teaching students at both GCSE and A-Level, I know how to adapt and tailor my teaching styles to match the students' expectations and requirements; whether they need exam coaching or general subject assistance.
More importantly, my degree in Accounting and Finance at one of the best universities in the country combined with my previous internships at Ernst and Young (EY), BlackRock, British American Investment (BAI), PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and now at an Investment Banking firm in the City of London, allows me to teach students the practical aspects of business and economics as well as the theoretical knowledge they require for their exams.
After having lived in Mauritius for 10 years where the main language spoken is French, I am able to tutor students the language where I also achieved top grades at both GCSE and A level. Thus, knowing the format of the exam and the techniques allows me to help students get the marks they want.
Ultimately, I will also be able to help students with their UCAS applications to competitive universities -personal statements as well as key job applications to finance/businesses such as Big Four firms and Investment Banks after personally holding offers!
