Perhaps your child is facing important exams this year and would benefit from extra tuition during the week or holidays? Maybe your child struggles with spellings, reading or writing and needs extra help to boost confidence and skills?
I'm Nikki de Villiers, an English specialist with over 20 years' experience. It’s such a privilege to teach children. And always has been since my first post as English and special needs teacher in 1992.
I understand more than anything that you want to give your children the very best start in life - so they can make their mark on the world and be happy...
Yet sometimes, our children need more than what they experience in school. They need a teacher who can devote time to them, who can explore new ways to unlock their potential, who can help them overcome any obstacle.
With a smile, a kind word and heaps of encouragement, I do just that. And have helped countless children rekindle their enthusiasm for learning, or achieve against the odds.
In fact, just recently, a mum of one of my dyslexic tutees told me her son had started believing in himself again under my guidance. That he found new confidence to handwrite essays and school work - rather than let a scribe do it for him. This achievement will never appear in a school league table, but it's given him a priceless gift for life. That matters to me...
As well as teaching, I also write professionally. This added expertise has notably helped children and young adults understand how important their communication skills are in the real world.
Where do I start?! My background is in secondary school teaching - supporting special needs students through to gifted and talented pupils.
For the past seven years I've specialised in one to one tuition both privately and within schools to great success. Under my care, every child has improved or achieved their desired grades. Importantly, I've inspired children to love learning again...
In recent years, I've successfully coached children to pass their Common Entrance and 11+ exams including helping one student pass his Eton entrance exam. I've tutored children from age seven upwards...
Key subjects offered:
Key Stage 2 and 3 English
Common Entrance/ Eleven Plus
Literacy, Verbal and non-verbal reasoning
Perhaps a mother's words sum it up (from a recent reference) 'Nikki's approach is sensitive, caring and encouraging. She has a calm, lovely manner which not only helped Libby feel comfortable, but inspired her to learn. Nikki's gift with children helped Libby achieve the grade she needed... We have no hesitation in recommending her to other parents and consider ourselves very lucky in finding her.'
Lessons with me are never silent. I like to use a variety of approaches and activities to bring out the best in every child I am working with. With boundless enthusiasm,
As a tutor, I take the responsibility you entrust me with seriously, and go the extra mile to get the best out of any student I am supporting.
Perhaps you'd like to get in touch for an initial chat or advice on where to go from here? I'd be happy to help.
Please note: I do charge a reasonable travel fee to compensate for travel time/petrol.
