Friendly, forward-thinking, and always meticulously prepared for each session. I am a Medical Student at Imperial College London with 10 years of experience in the education sector who scored within the top 2% of BMAT test-takers, and holds an Undergraduate BSc. In addition to a full UMS A* in Biology at A Level and A* in A Level Chemistry at above 95% UMS, I also hold an A Level in English Literature, with 100% UMS in A2 examinations.
I am always proud of the achievements and goals made possible with effective yet engaging teaching.
I have 10 years experience of teaching both one-to-one, and in small classes at a private college for Mathematics, the Sciences (Biology and Chemistry), in addition to English from secondary towards GCSE examinations, and A Levels.
I have also taught individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder, completing training as an Applied Bhavioual Analysis Tutor. I have achieved certification with the British Council for the teaching of English, as well as direct training from an Examination Officer on the delivery of specifications.
As a highly experienced tutor, I am very much proud of the achievements and goals made possible with strategic yet supportive teaching.
One of my past students had kindly provided this review:
"Nighat is a fantastic tutor. Her lessons are engaging and have really helped to improve my understanding of A-Level chemistry."
I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching both young and older students, for examinations such as the Year 6 SATS to more rigorous A Levels, with A*s achieved, and a significantly marked improvement in Mathematics and English for the SATS to a nearly full mark score.
Being an engaging and friendly tutor, I love to create personal rapports with all of my students, making each session enjoyable, and a valuable academic experience.
I believe that the very personalised style of one-to-one teaching can be a highly effective pathway to success. In my experience, I have found the vast majority of my tutees have improved in examination performance, subject knowledge and confidence.
Whilst learning facts are clearly effective for recall-style questions, I focus more on application of knowledge in line with a subject-specific specification, by fostering a thorough understanding of why a scientific or mathematical concept is useful or occurs. I also link examination-style material upon completion of subject knowledge, encouraging a true understanding of material.
With English, I take a more varied and creative approach, helping students identify insights, methods of writing, and analytical techniques that are characteristics of higher grades. I create my own responses to English tasks, in addition to fostering a writer's voice, adopting humour, language techniques, and a wider vocabulary in their writing.
With younger students, I use smaller tasks that are set in bitesize chunks, whilst focussing on specific areas that students find difficult to approach. Using worked examples is a great adjunct.
Above all, I encourage a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere, in which students can progress - and even have a little fun!
