This is how 3 referees rated Nigel:
English (Foreign Language)
I have been an educational professional for thirty years, both in the state education system and in private language schools. I have worked as a language teacher of students of all ages from 11 yrs to 70 yrs, although I now work exclusively with adult students. As well as classroom teaching, I have been a senior manager extensively involved in the development of good practice in teaching and learning.
I have many interests and enjoy participating in a whole range of activities. I play badminton and tennis and enjoy most sports. I am a keen amateur musician, artist, writer and have a general love of the arts.
I started teaching English as a foreign language in a language school in Brighton in 1980. Since then I have also taught English in four different state schools and literacy to adult learners. I teach a wide range of students from all around the world with very different levels of English. I have several students working towards FCE, CAE, CPE and IELTS exams and I also provide additional support to students studying for exams in local language schools. I have a 100% exam pass record with my students. I also have some students preparing for the 'Life in the UK' test.
In my teaching I am careful to ensure that students are provided with study materials and teaching methods that give them confidence and allow them to make good progress. I always support students in any way that I can and have a great deal of experience in helping overseas students with issues such as job and university applications, housing and gaining access to a variety of support services.
