I'm Nicola, I live near Glasgow and I am a mum to two little girls and step-mum to one little boy. I also have a 10 year career in the Scottish legal world. I work as an associate for a large Scottish firm, primarily advising in commercial property transactions. Previously I worked in the energy industry and have experience of employment law, corporate law and litigation.
Helping to encourage and build confidence in students, and giving them the guidance they need to flourish and succeed in their chosen subject, or more generally in their approach to their studies, is of critical importance to me as a tutor.
As a practising lawyer, and a busy working mother, time management and prioritising are also key - something that is an art form often forgotten about but can be fundamental in managing to be as successful as your best effort should.
Please enquire about any of the topics I can assist with, and if I'm not the person for you, good luck in your endeavours!
Part of my role as an associate is to tutor and supervise trainee solicitors in their daily working lives. I also review and provide feedback on essay and dissertation topics and structures for university students.
My approach is one of encouraging honesty, something I firmly believe provides the necessary tools for a student to learn, move forward and ultimately succeed. I hope to help students and tutees to achieve the best result possible for them.
Positive criticism and suggesting alternative methods which can improve and supplement learning should not be overlooked.
Aside from one-to-one tutoring, reviewing dissertations, essays and theses can be discussed. Feedback would take the form of email critiques and suggestions on structure, layout and content.
