I live in Parkgate but teach in Wirral which means that I can tutor children in Wirral, Neston and surrounding areas. I have a passion for learning and have an excellent understanding of how children learn both within the classroom environment and on a one-to-one basis. I have experience of tutoring children from 5-13 years old, including reluctant learners, children with additional needs and children who lack confidence. Whenever possible, I am led by a child’s interests to ensure engagement and very often, I learn a lot too.
Having taught for 20 years (mostly in KS2) both in Wirral and in South London, I have a wealth of experience, particularly with children with additional needs. I was deputy head of a mainstream school which had provision for children with autism for 7 years before I returned to full-time classroom teaching in 2012-I missed being in the classroom. I currently lead maths and teach year 6 in a Wirral school.
The approach of course, depends on the needs of your child and because of that, I’m very flexible. Sometimes children just need a confidence boost. Perhaps they have difficulty concentrating on a task so would need a reward or incentive. Maybe they need to ‘go over’ what they’ve been learning in school. Tutoring sessions will be tailored to the needs of your child, after discussion with them, and yourself and will hopefully, be a lot of fun.
