Information About Nick - Hove tutor
This is how 2 referees rated Nick:
I'm a highly-experienced teacher and head of maths with an in depth knowledge of requirements at secondary level maths. My aim as a teacher and tutor is to encourage learning through building a positive and supportive working relationship with my students. Some people struggle with maths and want to build underlying confidence, others are aiming for a specific grade in their exams. Whatever your aim, I can help. I love travel and recently took time out from full time teaching to fulfil my lifetime's ambition to travel round the world. I'm now back at home in Brighton, teaching part time and available for tuition.
I have been a secondary maths teacher since 2002 and a head of maths since 2012. During the past 14 years, I have taught all levels from ages 11-16, though I am trained to teach up to A-level. I have also given private tuition to numerous students across this age range (including first year A-level).
My approach is to build confidence and be guided by a student's individual needs. I believe that private tuition is a forum for students to work towards personal goals, address areas where they lack confidence or identify and fill in gaps in their mathematical knowledge. I prefer to keep sessions open, not sticking to any specific format but agreeing an approach. Most to the time, this will involve going over key areas of numeracy to build fluency, consolidating knowledge on topics currently being studied at school or focusing on exam preparation.
