I have worked as a classroom teacher for ten years and written three textbooks on British and Chinese modern history. I am an expert in 19th and 20th Century and have a history podcast that reaches over 10,000 listeners each week.
I am passionate not only about history but about helping learners excel. I am an expert in understanding what obstacles a student has to overcome and I have helped hundreds of students find their true potential.
I have taught for ten years and lectured in history at the University of Wales Institute Cardiff. I am currently the creator of an ebook series Explaining History and am writing two new history textbooks for Hodder publishing. I was head of history at Kings Monkton School in Cardiff between 2007 and 2013 and now work as an online history teacher for Interhigh.co.uk
I have planned and prepared the WJEC history syllabus for the school and am familiar with teaching to most other syllabuses. I have written textbooks for AQA and Edexcel.
Each client I tutor has different needs and different strengths so I like to get to know the student initially so I can find the best way to help them. I normally conduct either a one hour or ninety minute session that focuses on a particular issue (eg The 1923 Munich Putsch and its failure) and create a structured study programme for the student.
I set and mark weekly homework assignments and am happy to email additional resources on a weekly basis. I am also a qualified counsellor and can help with issues such as exam stress, anxiety and confidence.
I also supply learners with a full complement of notes on all subjects (and create new resources where necessary).
