I am an experienced Secondary History Teacher and I have recently completed an MA in Modern History at the University of Sheffield. I am currently studying for my PhD at the University of East Anglia. I am passionate about my subject and prided myself as a teacher on my ability to communicate this passion to others in an enjoyable and engaging way. I aim to offer a professional, friendly and supportive tutoring service.
I have 7 years experience as a Secondary History Teacher. In which I taught KS3, GCSE and A Level to children from a range of abilities and backgrounds. At GCSE I have experience of teaching both the Modern World History and Schools History Project syllabuses. At A-Level I have taught a range of subjects from British political history 1830-1950, German history from 1848-1945, International Relations 1945-2003, Russia 1800-1953, USA politics and society 1865-1969. However, my academic study at both BA and MA level means I have a strong knowledge of many other areas of historical study. In my last teaching post I worked at a school with an ofsted rated outstanding school. I also have 3 years experience as a GCSE Modern World History examiner. Finally, I also have some experience at coaching students for Oxford and Cambridge applications.
My experience allows me to offer a comprehensive approach to tutoring and to develop a bespoke programme that will suit the individual learning styles and needs of the student. In particular I can tutor students to improve their subject knowledge, source analysis, writing style, exam technique and revision strategies.
Please note I am happy to tutor over 25 miles away so please do contact me.
