Personal Description:

I am researching for a PhD in early modern English literature (incl. Shakespeare) and modern Irish literature at the University of Warwick, having completed an MA in English Literature at The University of Manchester (Distinction) and an undergraduate degree at the University of Warwick in 2010. I have a background in Classical education in Latin, as well as spending time living and working in France.

My rates are more than competitive, and the service I provide is excellent. Moreover I am someone who is easy to get along with, and who has a good grounding in teaching.

Tutoring Experience:

I worked for several months in a down-trodden South African village, teaching a range of materials (eg English, Literature, French, Economics, Life Sciences, Science, etc.) to a range of ages (4-14). The class-sizes ranged from 15-40, so I am used to controlling and managing large classes so that the students can still learn in that environment. This is in addition to the tutees I have coached in recent years.

I am currently a part-time tutor in the English department of the University of Warwick, where I tutor undergraduates. I have also taught at Hampton School, for students aged 11-18 years.

Tutoring Approach:

The first session will be an assessment whereby I can estimate the level that the student is currently working at. More often than not, this will include a simple test on essential terms and ideas, as well as a 'chat' with the student to assess their level of understanding of the subject, and where they feel they are. Thereafter, the sessions can be tailored to the specific needs of the student.

Also, it is essential to integrate the learning - and supplement as well - with what the student is studying in their mainstream education. When this comes to exams, it is even more essential to complement the work undertaken in schools with what I will be doing outside the classroom.
