Personal Description:

*Please see 'Teaching Experience' for exam results.* Hello and thank you for taking the time to look at my profile.
I am a caring and compassionate teacher who always puts a pupil's needs first. I am currently an English Teacher at a mixed comprehensive school. I have a 2:1 combined honours degree which consists of English and Education Studies. Furthermore, I also hold Master's level credits in English and I have been rated as an outstanding teacher.

Tutoring Experience:

I have five years' experience as a qualified Teacher of English. My experience ranges across the key stages that has exposed me to a wide variety of different levels of need dependent on each pupil. I am currently a mentor for trainee teachers and have recently been promoted to a 2nd in department.
I have excellent knowledge of teaching the AQA exam board, including past and current mark schemes.

I have a lot of experience dealing with challenging cohorts of children and those lacking in confidence. I enjoy improving the self-esteem of children who lack confidence with the subject.

For the new GCSE, I taught both higher and lower ability classes; this enabled me to adopt a variety of approaches depending on need and style of learning. Both groups were successful with results. For language and Literature, I had 100% pass rate for both groups. Included in this was 100% level 6-9 (A**- B) for Language and 40% 7-9 (A**-A) for Literature alone.

Tutoring Approach:

I enjoy a fun and engaging approach to teaching whilst also keeping in mind the end result and what the tutee's needs are. The most integral part of tutoring, for me, is that the pupil is highly challenged and stretched in order to reach their fullest potential. Offering the right support and guidance so a safe, positive learning environment can be achieved is also something I create with pupils.

It is important that pupils are taught not only the relevant content but, also, that they have the necessary life- learning skills that will stay with them once they move onto new pastures in 'their' education.

I enjoy seeing pupils succeed in their learning so that they reach the very best in their exams, skills or qualifications they are working towards.
