I have recently finished my Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College London and am now pursuing a career in Asset Management. Studying a course and having a job such as this requires strong technical and analytical skills - something I have gained through a strong and thorough understanding of Maths, Physics and Finance. I have a genuine passion and excitement for these subjects that I hope to pass on to potential students, and help them to achieve their target grade and more.
I have had experience tutoring GCSE and A-Level Maths and Physics to students on a one-to-one basis, often going to their house or meeting in a public place (e.g. a library). I have become familiar with OCR, AQA and EdExcel specifications (GCSE and A-Level) for Maths and Physics: I've found from experience that there is little difference between different exam boards and I am well equipped to teach any specification.
I was a STEM Mentor at Imperial College, with experience teaching university STEM concepts to younger pupils. I am also a part of the "Imperial Tutors" group.
Having completed several during my studies, I understand the stresses and demands of exams.
I believe that any examination can be made to look easy by recognizing and simplifying specific areas of the specification. I used this technique to good effect in my own studies, and I'd be willing to show students my personal notes from past exams to gain inspiration. I hope to create a stress-free working environment and build a good rapport between student and parent/guardian.
On first meeting I would like to discuss the subject and identify areas of strengths and weaknesses, so that I can source relevant material for the weeks of tutoring ahead. Nearer to the exam, I can go over exam technique and time management, things I believe to be equally important as content knowledge.
