Personal Description:

I was born and brought up in Kingston upon Hull in England. I am able to read and write in traditional Chinese too. I am a qualified secondary school teacher of Spanish and French. I have been teaching since 2015. I have learnt basic Portuguese and Italian at the university and I am interested to expand my skill to learn a non-alphabetic language.

I am also qualified to teach English as a second or foreign language after completing 4-week intensive training for CELTA in Leeds.

I relocated to Manchester in December 2017 continuing working with children in different environment and subjects.

Tutoring Experience:

2012 - 2014: I was a volunteer for Refugee Council (Hull) as an English Language Supporter. I was assigned with two families who arrived in UK for less than a month ensuring that they integrated into the British society and practised English language.

Jan - May 2013: I volunteered for Endeavour High School (Hull) as a French Classroom Assistant for EAL Students by simplifying the learning materials and providing one-to-one or group tuition. On the other hand, I was paid as an Exam Invigilator for Cantonese for three candidates taking the subject at GCSE level.

Aug - Sept 2014: I undertook a 4-week intensive CELTA training course in which I taught English as an additional language at three different levels: beginners, pre-intermediate, and intermediate to native speakers of Spanish and Arabic in Leeds.

Sept 2014 - Jul 2015: I undertook PGCE Secondary at the University of Hull in which I taught Spanish up to A Level / Key Stage 5 and French up to GCSE / Key Stage 4 to students from age 11 - 19. My teaching placements were at Tollbar Academy in New Waltham and South Holderness Technology College in Preston.

Aug 2015 - Sept 2017: I was a Language Supply Teacher for Teaching Personnel at various education settings in Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire and North East Lincolnshire. I have long-term booking with Bridlington School and I take on the same responsibilities as a permanent teacher would have.

Sept 2016 - Sept 2017: I was a French and Spanish Teacher at Paull Primary School teaching French at Key Stage 1 and 2, and I held after-school Spanish club for families (pupils with their parents). I created the language syllabus and planned my lessons to suit the needs of every pupil.

Oct 2017 : Language tuition via online and also home visits.

Jan 2018 - April 2018: I assist learners whose native language is not English to practise speaking and listening English language at a community school where their children attend for formal education in Crumpsall. It's informal and conversational.

Dec 2017 - May 2017 : I taught Spanish every fortnight to Year 3 - Year 6 students at St John's C of E Junior School in Failsworth, Manchester. I followed the school's scheme of work, adapting the concept and planned my lessons accordingly ensuring that every pupil was engaged in learning a new language and achieved positive outcome from the subject.

June 2018 - present : I am Out-of-School Club Leader at **Removed By Admin** in Ancoats where pupils are involved in different activities and snack is provided. I am also Year 2 Teaching Assistant during school hours where I support the host teacher and pupils.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is like a vibrant manual; I create a range of colourful short activities in one session making use of all four skills (reading, listening, writing and speaking) going through step by step with the tutee until the desired outcome is achieved. Most of the time, the outcome can be achieved within an hour lesson so it is important to maintain the knowledge with practice. Practice makes perfect!
