Tutoring Experience

I enjoy my work with individual children, developing their confidence and skill base. I use my expertise to help children who need help in specific areas of learning or those who require an overall boost in their performance.I qualified as a teacher in 1983 with an Honours Degree. I have completed academic courses in Dyslexia, Language and Communication, ASD, ADHD, and other conditions that can often affect learning.

Tutoring Approach

I believe that most children have it within themselves to achieve in school. Sometimes its a question of discovering their learning styles and other times dismantling blocks that prevent progress. I have the skills to identify the learning needs of all children. I can give sound advice and guidance to parents on all aspects of learning.
I use assessment to continually inform my teaching and to deliver feedback to parents when required.
I use a variety of materials which will always meet an identified need. The teaching time is precious so I will leave homework to maximize and consolidate the learning. This is an important part of the process.
Finally, I believe that children should enjoy their lessons and feel motivated to learn. To that end, I will try to discover a child's interests and his/her learning style to enable more effective learning to take place.
