Personal Description:

I graduated with my Master's in Biochemistry from Oxford in June 2016 then worked for a year in the healthcare communications industry. More recently I spent six months private tutoring and then spent sixth months working for an educational charity that provides private tutors to disadvantaged students. I am now a Graduate Medicine student at the University of Liverpool. Having taken Biology, Chemistry, Maths and English Literature at A Level, I am happy to tutor all these subjects.

I am very friendly and like to help my students find simple ways to understand difficult concepts. I really enjoyed my A level education and degree and would hope to pass on this enthusiasm to my students. Having gone to Oxford, I can also provide tutoring in Oxbridge interview preparation and personal statement review, along with general advice on the application process.

Tutoring Experience:

I spent sixth months tutoring students with a range of abilities this year. In small tutorial groups at Oxford, I frequently had to research and present topics to my fellow students. I found this very rewarding as I learnt from both my peers and my tutors how best to convey a key learning. At my sixth form I reviewed several university application personal statements and helped my peers in group study in biology, chemistry and maths. I also had some opportunities to mentor and teach younger students. I volunteered for several years at my local primary school, helping to enthuse the children across all subjects.

Having recently finished A Levels and a degree myself, I completely understand what the pressure is like so can empathise with students needing some extra guidance!

Tutoring Approach:

In terms of lesson formatting, this is best dictated by the student! I understand that school-like lesson formats are not the best way for everyone to learn so I am happy to be flexible and suit your needs. A good lesson for you might be running through a few difficult problems together, or going step-by-step through a few pages of a revision guide or textbook until together we work out the best way for you to understand and remember the concepts. I'm open to feedback along the way so we can find the format that works for you.
