I am a Biology Teacher at Rugby School, having previously spent 6 years as an academic researcher specialising in ecology, climate change and fisheries research. I love Biology and try to help my pupils also love it!
I am available for tutoring from primary to A level.
I have taught Biology at Rugby School, Warwickshire, since September 2016, and have completed a placement at Rugby High School. Prior to this I spent a year as a teaching and boarding assisstant at Princess Helena College, Hertfordshire. I have a secondary PGCE in Biology.
From my work in academia, I have experience of demonstrating, tutoring, and mentoring undergraduate as well as MSc and PhD students at the University of Cambridge, the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, and the University of East Anglia.
Tutoring will be tailored to individual needs. I use a variety of methods, including video clips (e.g. to highlight cellular and sub-cellular processes) and creative methods, as well as practice exam questions and data analysis. I am patient and supportive and will take time to find where in the subject key difficulties lie to gradually improve a pupil's confidence, as well as their enjoyment of the subject.
Assessment of progress will be ongoing such that tutoring may be adaptive, although tests, or exam-condition questions, will also be provided where appropriate.
