I am a lively and enthusiastic person and teacher and try to do my best for all, not only pupils but parents too. Having recently retired I love travelling, bridge and my family. Music has been a very important part of my life for over 50 years.
I have been a Director of Music in schools for over 30 years working with youngsters from Reception to A level age, as well as with adults. As a class teacher I have taught English, Maths and Reasoning in the junior department and I have taught instrumental studies, particularly brass, specializing in trombone, to all age groups. I have conducted ensembles of all types, often arranging appropriate repertoire myself and have conducted and performed at a wide range of national and international venues, including the Royal Albert and Birmingham Symphony Halls. I have adjudicated music competitions for many years too.
I have high professional and musical standards and wish to encourage rather than chastise and help my pupils to aspire to that of which they are truly capable. Whilst I endeavour to encourage, advise and stimulate I am a great believer that the person must want something them self and my task is to find the best way to help them to achieve this.
