Information About Michael - Blaydon-on-Tyne tutor
I am a family man and together with my wife home-educated our daughter to GCSE level in 6 subjects. (4 @ 'A', 2 @ 'C') I have the reputation of being both a good listener and patient with my students.
I have been teaching maths for the past 12 years at vatious colleges in the north east. Currently, I am semi-retired, my last treaching post being Newcastle College. Over recent years I have also tutored on a one-to-one basis and have helped several learners achieve their desired grade at GCSE Maths. I am willing to teach online or privately and will supply necessary references.
My approach is to first make sure of the basics, ability to add, subtract, multipy and divide, WITHOUT using a caclulator. There are several short-cuts to this which I am happy to share, along with more modern methods of multiplication and division. I will try to meet the needs of the learner by sticking closely to their Awarding Body's schedule for learning, at their stipulated level. So if it is modular, we will get these in the correct sequence to manage time to best advantage. Strongly believe in laying a solid foundation to build on, as opposed to 'cramming' for exams.
