Information About Michael - Smethwick tutor
This is how 2 referees rated Michael:
I was born in Birmingham and have taught all my career in the city.
I am married with three children who have all followed degree courses and so I am experienced in the requirements the universities have of their students.
I am an enthusiastic teacher who has spent the majority of my life immersed in the subject that I find fascinating.
I have taught in three large secondary schools in Birmingham; my second was in Sutton Coldfield for 10 years then at Moseley School for 26 years.
Throughout this time I taught A level Mathematics Pure and Mechanics covering Edexcel and AQA syllabuses as well as teaching GCSE up to higher level. For the last 5 years I have worked part time at Bournville College teaching a wide range of Mathematics mainly GCSE but also A level Core and Mechanics; I also taught the Mathematics units from the Edexcel BTEC Applied Science Level 3 course.
Last year I tutored A level and GCSE students in their own home concentrating on Higher level GCSE and AS and A2 Mathematics for Edexcel and MEI examinations.
I work with students on topics of their own choice to develop the understanding necessary to tackle the examinations that they will be sitting in the summer.
Each individual has different strengths and weaknesses and I use my wide experience to find the approach that is suitable for the student based on the skills and methods that they are comfortable in applying.
The aim is to build on their current knowledge before extending them to take on the challenge of the more difficult questions they will have to face.
I take great care to ensure that students can read and interpret complex questions quickly as this is essential under time pressure in examinations.
