Personal Description:

Hello. I am a teacher with an MA in History, an MA in Creative Writing and a degree in Politics and History. I am also a published playwright and poet. I have been teaching part time in an English department at a University for the last four years as well as working as a private tutor. Prior to that I was a writer in residence in a young offender’s institution using creative writing and drama to improve the literacy, thinking and behaviour of young prisoners. In 2014 I ran writing and drama workshops in a women's prison in New Zealand. I have worked widely in youth theatre and have written a popular text book on creative writing. My drama has been produced on stage and radio in the UK, Australia and most recently the US. I've also directed for theatre, most recently at Watford Palace Theatre. As well as a teacher, I have been a youth justice worker and a careers adviser. **Removed By Admin**

Tutoring Experience:

Last year I tutored a student in both GCSE History and English and an A level student in the same subjects. During the last academic year I successfully tutored a GCSE History student. During the previous academic year, I successfully tutored a local A level History student (see feedback below). For the last two years I have also taught creative writing (poetry, drama, short fiction) part time at Sheffield Hallam University; poetry at Edge Hill University. I have also guest lectured in History and Criminology. As a writer I have run writing and drama workshops with all ages. My first novel will be published in June 2016.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is to initially assess my student's strengths and weaknesses. Then to break the learning curve down into key objectives or units. Then to set a realistic time frame to achieve set goals. Always in mind is the objective of achieving an eventual good pass in the subject. I tutor online using skype as well as in person.
