Camden Tutor

I am 24 years old and from Somerset. I recently graduated with a 1st Class Masters’ of Chemistry degree from the University of Southampton, completing my Masters’ project at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore as part of my course. I have recently achieved a distinction in a Masters' of Research programme at Imperial College and will be continuing my work in a Chemical Biology PhD programme until 2019. I am very enthusiastic about Chemistry and Maths and would love to help and guide students finding these areas difficult. From past experience I know it can be hard to always get the help needed in a big class at school so you can always expect a patient and supportive approach from me!

Tutoring Experience

In 2013, I spent a month volunteering at a camp in Romania teaching English. I found it to be a very rewarding experience and really saw the benefit of engaging the children in interactive lessons. As a PhD student I have recently been supporting lecturers at Imperial College with undergraduate courses in a problem-based workshops. I am also trained in the Outreach programme at Imperial College which aims to deliver lessons to schoolchildren showcasing the colleges research in an engaging and interactive way.

Tutoring Approach

Above everything, I believe that creating interesting and engaging sessions will go a long way in aiding the learning of a student. Personally, I have always felt less motivated to study if I am not enjoying the subject! I will tailor sessions to the needs of the student and will use the syllabus, where needed, since part of the task nowadays is knowing precisely what will be examined.
