Information About Mia - Guildford tutor
This is how 4 referees rated Mia:
I am a friendly and approachable person, looking to expand my portfolio of work through tutoring. I have been teaching in a local school for the last 3 years as a qualified chemistry teacher, and have worked with all abilities. Outside of work, I enjoy hikes in the Surrey Hills, admiring the landscapes and wildlife. I also like to recreate recipes from Great British Bake-Off, and attend dance classes. I am down to Earth, and keen to help young pupils develop and hone their scientific ability to succeed in their examinations.
I have been teaching in a local school for 3 years, and have had experience teaching year 7-year 12. I have taken pupils through GCSE's with fantastic results, and have taught pupils of all abilities. I have developed a large bank of resources for all needs, and have taught pupils 1:1 to develop their skills and understanding. Alongside teaching chemistry, I am also a year 7 form tutor and Head of House, where I have organised events, productions and dealt with sensitive pastoral issues. I have a great rapport with my students and am able to make them feel at ease.
I will meet with the student for an initial consultation to create a plan to improve their skills. We will identify together the areas which need working on as a priority, looking through their school work and reports to date. I can then begin preparing sessions based on the individual needs for the pupil. I am a confident, patient and inventive tutor, who can create analogies and novel methods of teaching to help pupils connect with material and understand the science involved. By reflecting on the achievements they make along the tutoring progress, I can help pupils build their confidence and begin to make links between topics in the syllabus. This way, they can develop their problem-solving skills, which are essential for success in the new GCSE's.
