My name is Melissa and I have a an English and Drama teacher and I live close to the city centre of Norwich. I studied drama at Manchester University, achieving a first class honours degree and a Masters Degree. I have an unfailing passion for all things drama and literature and love to share and encourage this in my students.
I have been teaching drama for 20 years across many different educational settings, including further education colleges, youth theatres, prison and probation settings and within mental health. I studied to teach English as a foreign language in Istanbul, and taught abroad for a year. I have worked extensively as a supply teacher within secondary schools in Norfolk, teaching English and Drama. I currently work with the Inspiration Trust, teaching English key stage 3 and 4 and Drama key stage 3 up to A Level. I am able to offer private tuition to one or two students at a time in both English and drama. I am also able to offer private drama coaching in acting for students preparing for auditions or drama exams.
My approach to teaching English and Drama is through the text choices first and foremost. I believe that if a student enjoys the text and it is a story they relate to, then everything else will follow. My aim is to offer a student both an enjoyable and meaningful learning experience I can tailor the focus of sessions according to specific needs and will plan 6 week scheme which will provide opportunities to focus on particular areas of school or college work as needed.
I am able to either travel or teach from my home in the city.
My availability is: Monday afternoons / evenings,
