Personal Description:

I am a mother of 3 primary school aged boys. I am an enthusiastic and creative educator with a love for learning.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been a lecturer in Further Education for 10 years. I taught primarily Information Communication Technology. I also am an experienced tutor specialising in preparation for 11+ and school entrance exams - verbal and non verbal reasoning. I am also experienced in tutoring adults in study skills, essay writing and helping them to build their competence in dealing with documents, completing profiles etc. I am experienced in supporting adults with dyslexia.

Tutoring Approach:

My aim is for my tutees to build the skills and confidence they need on order to love learning. I find that if you are passionate about something it can provide an anchor for learning. I am a coaching enthusiast so I see tutoring as transporting you from where you are to where you want to be. If the tutee is a child I find communicating with parents is key to the relationship and I am eager to give regular feedback if that is required. I like my tutees to tell me their anxieties about their learning as I have often found once the anxiety is dealt with the tutee is able to access their learning positively. I think it is good for the tutee to identify their learning styles and preferences so that they gain a set of skills that is unique to them and will build confidence for further study.
