I am a qualified French and Spanish teacher with 5 years experience. My beagle Hazel is a registered Pets as Therapy dog (PAT) and for children with special needs she can be a very positive influence. I specialise in engaging with home educated children and teenagers as I can provide a bespoke service to include: cooking, baking, crafts, dancing, cultural outings and much more. I am happy to combine a nanny/tutoring approach for families requiring more input and the fees for this start at £10 p/hour.
I have taught at primary and secondary schools in Scotland and England and have experience in personal tutoring. I also do group tutoring for a reduced rate. This is especially useful for language learning to improve speaking and listening skills. Over the years I have run various clubs and after school activities so have a wealth of resources to engage even the most reluctant learner!
My teaching approach is extremely understanding. Pupils must believe in their own ability to unlock their full potential so I spend time ensuring pupils believe in themselves and developing a positive attitude to their studies. Depending on requirements I can set homework and provide email support or take a more informal approach and include games/songs and other interactive activities.
