Canonbury Tutor

Female 21 year old full scholarship Viola student currently finishing my degree at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. I will be continuing my studies for Postgraduate at the Royal College of Music in September 2015. I have a real passion for Viola, teaching, chamber music and orchestral music. I love to cook and spend time with my family and cat! I attended the Purcell School of Music for 7 years where I was taught in great depth about music theory, so if you would like to do your grades with me, I would be happy to help you through the aural and theory process. I have performed in the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra in July 2015 and in the London Symphony Orchestra Open Air Concerts in 2013 and 2015.

Tutoring Experience

I am currently teaching two students at different levels. One is 10 years old and has just passed his grade 5 viola with merit and the other is a complete beginner, aged 56 and is taking his grade 1 in the summer. I also teach chamber music, such as string quartets, piano quartets and piano trios.

Tutoring Approach

My approach to teaching is very simple, good communication, compassion, organisation and imagination!
I offer first lessons at half price in order for me to establish the style of player you are, your goals and whether we will connect.
I then set up a lesson plan around technical exercises, scales studies as such and pieces. If you would like to the ABRSM grades, I am happy to stick to that syllabus, but I do have repertoire that I like to teach also. I recommend if working towards grades or entrance exams that we meet weekly in order to keep your playing in check.
