I currently work as the Bradford Positive Behaviour Service Lead with Affinity Trust, working with children with severe challenging behaviour and their families. Previously I have spent a number of years applying psychology to my practice in both the NHS and private healthcare. I graduated from Swansea University in 2011 with a BSc in Psychology and went on to complete an MSc in Abnormal and Clinical Psychology which focused on a number of different aspects of the clinical applications of psychology. I have a broad knowledge of psychology, its key concepts and more specialist knowledge in clinical psychology, neuropsychology, neuroscience, learning disabilities, applied behaviour analysis, positive behaviour support and mental health.
I have access to my own vehicle and am willing to travel to meet tutee's dependent on distance.
I have spent time teaching students both online and via one to one sessions in person. I am keen to continue to build my experience by providing face to face sessional work with clients and am happy to provide psychology lessons via telephone or the internet at discounted rates
Similar to the view I take in my job, I adopt a very person centered approach to tutoring where my practice will always adapt and revolve around the tutee's support needs and interests. I understand that each person has individual needs and difficulties with a topic and that these are very fluid and may regularly change. I believe that altering my practice and teaching methods to best suit the tutee is the best way of achieving success for that person. I believe that in order to work effectively, the tutor needs to build on and utilise the skills and strengths of a tutee, whilst developing skills in areas where they are less confident. A tutor should provide a positive, supportive environment in which they can provide the scaffolding for the tutee to learn to the best of their ability and reach their full potential.
