Information About Matthew - Dundee tutor
This is how 2 referees rated Matthew:
Hi I'm Matt, a 19 years old University of Dundee maths student from the northeast of England. I would describe myself as a polite and friendly person with a keen interest in helping people reach their goals. I received an A at A-level maths, along with an A* and an A in GCSE maths and statistics respectively. I am progressing well through my current studies as I have recently been awarded a medal for my exam results this year(2016). I know firsthand of the positive affect tutoring can have on a student as I received tutoring throughout my final year of A-levels. I found this greatly rewarding and I hope to pass on this experience to many more students.
Although having no paid teaching experience, I have helped teach my classmates topics that they were struggling with whilst studying for my mathematics A-level. In recent experience, I have tutored my fellow course-mates in statistics modules over the course of my first year of university and their feedback encouraged me sign up to this website to offer my tutoring services to other people that need help understanding their mathematics at school.
I would say I have a rather open approach to tutoring: I focus on communicating the problems and difficulties the student is going through with the content, going through examples and exam papers, showing the student my approach to difficult topics. But of course not all people learn in the same way and so I believe communication with the student is most important, the main aim of tutoring is to give that student the benefits of one-to-one teaching, which I believe can not be matched in a classroom.
