I am a lively charismatic 24 year old male history graduate. I have worked in retail for the past 5 years and I would like to think of myself as a very approachable person. I am confident in my ability to teach. One of my greatest assets is the amount of patience I have when dealing with a tutee, I think that is key to somebody learning and accepting the points you want to put across. As I am relatively young, I will bring a modern outlook to teaching and be able to relate to the teaching methods the learner experiences in their academic environment.
I have recently graduated in the summer of 2017 so I am very new to teaching. However, I am passionate in what I teach and take a firm interest in history. I hope to transfer this passion to the tutee. If the passion is transferred and received by the tutee, they are more likely to engage with what you are saying, in turn, creating a much healthier environment for them to process what you are saying and remember the key facts.
My main areas of interest include the First and Second World Wars. My other favourable areas include modern American history, Irish history and the Cold War.
Patience is the key to tutoring. When putting your ideas and methods across, it is crucial to let the learner digest and understand what you mean. I have a good sense of humour so teaching will be enjoyable but beneficial at the same time. As I am young, I think a student could benefit from my tutoring massively compared to a more experienced tutor. The strategy that will be implemented will be to install confidence in the learner so they believe in their ability. Personally I think confidence is a vital part of doing well in examinations or essays and academic progression.
