Information About Matt - Leeds tutor
This is how a referee rated Matt:
I'm Matt and I'm a working musician with experience playing in various musical roles.
I play guitar regularly in different function bands covering many different genres of music.
I have toured parts of Europe in shows and also play a Cuban guitar called the Tres as playing Salsa is a passion of mine.
Since finishing my degree I have taught on a one to one basis for a year or so and also have taught different workshops in group situations, teaching about improvisation and latin rhythm workshops.
I have also been involved in community music workshops, working with people less privileged than most. However for the last 2 years I have taught Martial Arts to mixed age groups in the local area.
Music has to be kept fun and so I believe not only in tailoring all lessons to meet the aims of each individual but also, in reference to the old saying about giving a man a fish, or if you were to teach a man how to fish… I think that it is important for my students to become musicians and have the knowledge of how theory and aural skills can help them develop the tools they need to aid themselves in further study or creation of music which appeals to them.
