Hi! My name is Matthew, I'm a freelance writer, researcher, and private tutor. I grew up in Brussels, before moving to London, Cambridge, and now Poole.
I'm passionate about helping young people identify and realise their ambitions, while also helping them develop life long skills in critical thinking and curiosity.
I've been teaching a whole selections of skills over the last five years, working with teenaged boys to challenge sexism and stereotypes, training gifted students to get into Oxbridge, teaching professionals around the UK to engage better with new media, and teaching all ages to think more and better.
I believe in a classical approach, dating all the way back to Socrates. Conversation, questioning, and probing at the difficult parts of a problem are the best way to progress. I believe that you only understand a concept that you can explain yourself, and work to emphasise that knowledge is only part of the way to understanding.
