I am a second year student at the University of Edinburgh and I am currently studying MMath (hons) - an undergraduate mathematics degree with an integrated masters year. Through my work as a tutor I aspire to help other people achieve their ambitions by providing my knowledge and support. Furthermore, I hope the experience can further develop my own skills as well.
In my 6th year of high school I volunteered in various maths and science classes and helped younger students with learning. This year I am also volunteering as a classroom assistant at the Royal High school in a national 5 maths class. I believe these experiences have improved my communication skills and made me better at explaining various concepts to other people.
I try to make my lessons challenging but also try to adapt them based on the level the tutee is working at: I believe this allows the tutee to be as prepared as possible for their exams while not feeling overrun. Usually I focus on trying to find and work on the tutee's main weaknesses or areas they don't have as good an understanding of. I strive to make my lessons enjoyable yet professional.
