Personal Description:

I am a 23 year old student currently in my final year at Oxford Medical School, due to qualify in 2017 and in earlier years of my course I obtained a BA in Medical Sciences (with a focus on infection and immunology). Before beginning university, I attended Bradford Grammar School in Yorkshire, where I obtained 12 A*s at GCSE, 6 As at AS level and 3 A*s and one A at A-level. My A-level subjects were Biology, Chemistry, English Literature and Latin.

As a result of these years, I have particularly strong interests in biology, chemistry and medical sciences, and would enjoy the opportunity to teach and assist in these areas.

Similarly, from the time of my applications to medical school, I have experience of the admissions process, and would be happy to assist with preparations for UKCATs, BMATs and medical school interviews.

Tutoring Experience:

I have little formal experience in private tutoring, but have spent several years working within a highly interactive field that often requires formal presentations and public speaking, with hospital work itself requiring a constant atmosphere of collaboration and teamwork in order to meet both patients' and medical teams' common goals. I hope this has prepared me quite well for the collaboration and communication required in tutoring.

I also frequently advise students from my old school regarding their medical school applications and preparations for both admissions tests and interviews.

Tutoring Approach:

Any individual student for a given subject will best suit a slightly different approach, which I would aim to establish through a dialogue with the tutee. Having done so, I would ask the tutee to identify areas of interest, or problem areas, that they would like to focus on. Once identified, the subjects of interest can then be worked through systematically to allow the sources of any confusion to be addressed.
Regarding preparation for medical school admissions, mock interviews could be conducted and UKCAT and BMAT preparation discussed.
