I have spent many years as a newspaper journalist including the Metro newspaper (2001-9) during my 25 years in London and the Oxford Mail, Dorset Echo and Salisbury Journal in the last five years when I have been based in Salisbury.
I am a highly enthusiastic and motivated teacher with a passion for my subject and a special interest in the Europe of the dictators and World War Two. Despite that I believe i can turn my hand to teaching any historical era.
I want my lessons to be interactive with continuous opportunities for the student to ask questions, give feedback and check out the relevance of the subject to their educational aims. It is vital to explain historical jargon and terms like Bolshevik, risorgimento, fascist and appeasement in clear and easy-to-understand ways. I aim to start each tutorial with a quiz so I can find out how much the student knows and what level to pitch my teaching at.
