I am a passionate, innovative and patient teacher of English language and literature with over 20 years experience. My teaching has been recognised as 'Outstanding' by Ofsted.

Tutoring Experience

I have over 20 years experience of teaching English and Drama in High and Middle schools and have enjoyed a high degree of success in the teaching of SATs ( Reading, Writing and SPAG ), QCA 7 and 8 and GCSE. I have taught across the ability range (including SEN) and, as a result, I am able to able to adapt my approach to the individual requirements of the student. I have also provided one-to-one support and tutored small groups for examination boosting.

Tutoring Approach

I will initially assess strengths and areas for improvement and then provide a structured program which will encompass highly focused learning objectives, clear and extensive feedback (formative assessment) and learning strategies tailored to the specific requirements and, where possible, interests of the student. Importantly, however, in addition to helping equip students with the knowledge and skills to pass exams and improve classroom performance, I aim always to inspire genuine enthusiasm for and enjoyment of the subject.
