Personal Description:

I have over thirty five years experience of teaching Economics at A Level. I am a senior examiner for A Level Economics for AQA and Edexcel and have also been an examiner for OCR and IB, so I know exactly what examiners are looking for and can help with exam preparation and content. I have a track record of improving grades for A level students through tutoring (See reviews).
I am a trainer for AQA for the new A Level Economics specifications and so know the requirements well. I recently received my doctorate and have had a book published about education. I have a degree (BSc. Hons.) in Economics and Politics. I have a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) and a Masters degree from Bath University.
I can offer high quality one to one tutoring for the entire A level or GCSE course, for individual units, or for exam preparation.

Tutoring Experience:

I have taught Economics in three different secondary schools in the UK. In total I have thirty five years experience of teaching Economics. I was Head of Department for Business and Economics for twenty five of those years across the three schools. I was a Deputy Head teacher for eight years. In January 2010 I became an examiner for Economics with AQA. In August 2012 I was appointed as an examiner for A level Economics by Edexcel, OCR and IB. In 2014 I became a senior examiner for both AQA and Edexcel.

Tutoring Approach:

My students are my best referees. They tell me that my lessons are always well prepared, well delivered, interesting and fun. OFSTED have always graded my Economics lessons as Good to Outstanding. I have successfully tutored students online, including in China, so location is not a problem. As a tutor my style is relaxed yet focused. It is important that the tutee feels comfortable in the learning environment so that effective learning can take place. I believe that learning needs to be enjoyable and over the years I have built up a range of resources and strategies to make learning Economics enjoyable. My enthusiasm for the subject is infectious and tutees will come to engage with the subject matter of Economics in a new way.
