I am an experienced primary school teacher having worked in the profession since 2001. I have taught in the state and independent sector. I really enjoy my work helping children reach their full potential.
I CAN TUTOR AT YOUR HOME IF YOU LIVE WITHIN 3 MILES OF MY HOME BUT WILL CHARGE £10 FOR TRAVEL TIME AND EXPENSES IF OVER 3 MILES AWAY.

Tutoring Experience

I have taught all age groups from Year 1-Year 6 so have an excellent knowledge of expectations and progression across the curriculum. I have worked with a variety of learning abilities supporting children to reach age-related expectations in English and Maths and also teaching gifted children, who needed more of an academic challenge.
Having worked as a Maths Co-ordinator, I have had specialist training in the most effective methods for improving Maths' problem solving skills and developing higher order thinking skills.
While working at independent schools and as an independent tutor, I have successfully prepared children for 11 plus entrance exams at Queen Elizabeth, Highgate, Latimer, North Bridge House and Dame Alice Owen and for 7 plus at Highgate and City of London.

Tutoring Approach

I start off by assessing the child and finding their strengths and areas for development. I work from there to address any barriers that are holding a child back as well as using their strengths to develop confidence and encourage further progress. I include a variety of visuals, discussion, modelling and games to make learning fun and accessible but also ensure there is a level of challenge in each lesson.
I am enthusiastic and patient and believe in providing lots of encouragement so children feel secure and are in a better frame of mind to learn.
