Personal Description:

I am currently working as a civil servant and have tutored and taught on a one-to-one freelance basis for the past seven years. I studied at the Royal College of Music and performed as a professional violinist for a couple of years, and I will be undertaking my second degree at the University of Cambridge, studying Human, Social, and Political Sciences. I also took a mathematics A level last year, achieving an A*, so I have a firsthand, up to date knowledge of the current exam system.

Tutoring Experience:

I specialise in mathematics, English and academic music (music theory) and I have taught on a one-to-one basis in a private capacity and as a visiting teacher in schools in Camden for the past seven years. I have prepared many pupils for exams, including GCSEs and 11+, and am happy to tutor students on a long term basis to develop overall ability and confidence or in short bursts for a particular exam.

Tutoring Approach:

I think students need to be both encouraged and challenged. Confidence in general is built when a student develops their understanding of the subject, recognises that they are making progress, and ultimately is able to answer questions with increasing clarity and ease. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach and I adapt to students' learning styles and personalities, employing a variety of techniques, including tests and worksheets.
