I used to live in France and Spain whilst studying the languages at university. I attend 'meetup groups' several times a month where we chat together in French and Spanish, it's really enjoyable and a great way to maintain fluency.
I like to keep busy in my free time and have lots of hobbies ranging from circuit training to baking! I love travelling, and recently came back from China, sadly my Mandarin abilities seem to reflect those of a very small toddler at the moment :)!
I have a strong interest and talent for writing, a wide vocabulary and a sound grammatical awareness.
I have more than 10 years of teaching experience, gained both in the UK and overseas - I taught for one year in France and Spain during my degree at The University of Nottingham (where I studied French/Spanish/Business). After spending some time working temping, I decided to study teaching, and took my PGCE at The University of Warwick. I have since worked as a teacher in secondary schools in the UK and have also worked in motivational roles, raising achievement and confidence in languages.
I've also taught languages in Australia, Thailand and China. I've delivered teacher training programmes and professional development in China, so I have a lot of experience and enjoy using this to boost achievement and confidence for my students. I really enjoy my job; it's rewarding giving young people both skills to succeed in their exams.
I am very down to earth, approachable, genuine and sociable. I find it easy to get along with people and I try to make work fun and easy/effortless. I don't want to sound big-headed or a show-off (!), but believe I am a light-hearted, fun, relaxed, friendly and patient person which is perfect for tutoring.
I really enjoy teaching people new skills and witnessing their sense of satisfaction when they view their self-improvement and progression. I have a strong track record of boosting grades and confidence significantly and helping students achieve top results.
