My name is Marek and I live and work in Shropshire. I am a very careful, thoughtful, organised and methodical teacher of Maths. I have lots of patience when teaching and never give up when helping students to learn and progress. I am a very fair person but very focused when it comes to learning and understanding Maths work. I take immense pride in my students doing well at all of the levels that I teach and have a 100% success rate in helping students to pass exams and courses at the level that they have been expected to pass at. I converse very easily and comfortably with parents and students and take the time to explain the progress of my students and what is involved in their learning plans. I currently teach in a school for students with specific learning difficulties and am often referred to by many of them as their favourite teacher!
I am now a professional full-time tutor having retired/resigned my post to concentrate on home tutoring. This allows me to spend more time on planning, preparing, marking, and designing individual learning programmes for students taking full account of each student's specific need.
Seven and a half years in my most recent school, which is a medical Pupil Referral Unit. Head of Maths, teaching to top GCSE
Two years previously in a large secondary Academy. Key skills in English and Maths.
Twenty one years in a large secondary school. Deputy Head of Maths.
Six years in a secondary school in the Black Country. Head of DT with Maths.
During this time, thirty years of tutoring experience, from Primary Maths to top Secondary Maths, and Entrance exams at 11+ for Grammar schools.
I specialise in teaching and tutoring students who have a difficulty in learning Maths, so my strategy is a follows;
I carry out an extensive assessment of where the student is, in terms of their Maths level. This involves gentle questioning of the student's school situation, which group or set they are in, what the learning and discipline situation is like in their school. I then design a detailed programme of study to follow which dovetails in to their existing school Maths programme. This ensures that their progress at school is maximised.
I teach the programme using a range of techniques including practical, kinaesthetic, visual and auditory methods and do a lot of the written work myself whilst explaining and writing exactly how to answer and set out every question we do. These teaching sheets become the property of the student to use when studying or revising that topic at school. Homework is also regularly reviewed and help given where appropriate.
