I am a History teacher at a secondary school based in North Lanarkshire. I am a highly committed professional and work exceptionally hard to help young people achieve their full potential. I have an excellent rapport with the pupils I teach based on mutual respect and trust. I am engaged in a number of extra-curricular activities within my school which enables me to get to know pupils as individuals and develop different ways to encourage and get the best out of them. I find it a thoroughly rewarding experience to help and inspire young people to achieve.
I have been teaching History for the past 4 years in a Secondary School based in North Lanarkshire. Throughout this time I have taught History at National 4,5 and Higher level. I also have experience in teaching Modern Studies and RE, as well as having a Pupil Support role within my school. This has given me a more rounded approach to teaching and a greater appreciating for individual pupil learning. I have developed numerous resources within my Faculty including courses and assessments for National 4, 5 and Higher. Last teaching session, I had a 100% pass rate for all Higher candidates.
As a tutor, I aim to get the best out of every young person I work with. I treat each young person as an individual and incorporate a number of different teaching strategies to help them achieve their best. I enjoy engaging in discussion with learners and help them develop their knowledge and understanding, critical analysis and extending writing ability. I use past papers, model answers and revision notes to highlight good practice to learners. I encourage individuals to develop their own learning techniques, whilst all the while reinforcing the correct methodology required gain high marks at exam level.
