I am a very experienced tutor with plenty of patience and an empathy with the individual needs of each student. My approach therefore varies from one student to another. I offer help with difficult topics, advice on examination technique, and guidance with revision. The setting of specific exam questions between tutoring sessions and then the marking and review of the answers is important. It provides valuable experience and feedback on exam performance.
I am a very experienced teacher, both in this country and abroad. I have taught Science to KS3, Biology, Physics and Chemistry to GCSE and Biology to A level. I have also taught a variety of other subjects, mainly ICT, by choice, to KS3 level. I have had experience of a wide range of courses and boards over the years and have been able to adapt to their different approaches and requirements.
My approach to home tutoring has always been similar to my approach in the classroom. Through a friendly manner and carefully chosen activities, pupils learn that their efforts are rewarded and that their best is more than good enough. I believe in starting out by finding out what pupils are good at and what they are not so good at. Once my pupils and I have found out what they can and cannot yet do, their next steps are undertaken with learning activities that are fun and enjoyable, enabling them to succeed happily.
