I am a primary education specialist who can tutor children privately in maths and English at Key Stage 1-2, and for secondary school entrance exam preparation. I am a graduate of Warwick University with BA in Childhood Education and Society. I am also a qualified teacher with a PGCE from University of London. My work experience is both in the classroom and as a private tutor at home.
Thanks to a solid education, training and work experience background, I am a professional education practitioner with a thorough understanding of the learning process as well as the British education system and how to help your child navigate successfully through and beyond it. As a primary teacher, I understand that children aged 7 – 11 are at that crucial stage where solid foundations must be laid to give them their best chance for a successful academic life.
My role is to help children excel and to close gaps in their knowledge. Through a combination of traditional techniques and the application of tried and tested methods and resources, I help children to achieve academic milestones at a faster pace and more assuredly than if left to statutory schooling alone. As much as teaching, my job is to help children build their self-esteem and confidence to successfully apply their reasoning and to problem solve.
Helping children achieve their best is my passion. With each family that work with, I take a vested interest in the child’s future and success. It has been the most rewarding experience to see children I have tutored, who were once struggling in their subjects, go on to achieve at the top of their class in their SATs, and to see the successful outcomes in common entrance exams. My students enjoy working with me as I am easily able to develop a good rapport with them. I try to keep lessons fun and at a pace which keeps the child engaged. Parents like me because they see me motivating their children, breaking psychological barriers and facilitating progress.
As a tutor, I will provide a specially tailored program and curriculum for each child based on the outcomes of their initial assessment. I will set clear targets, so that the child can be confident in what they are working towards. I will also provide a system of tracking progress as an encouragement for the child to see how far they’ve come, and as motivation to push themselves even further.
I look forward to working with new families and continuing to pour every effort into the child’s learning, to see outstanding progress and achievement.
One year as a primary school teacher (trainee)
One year experience teaching English as a foreign language to children.
7+ months experience as a teaching assistant in primary school.
7 months experience tutoring year 6, 5 and 3 students.
I will start with an initial assessment of the child, in order to get an idea of the areas that he/she may need further support. I will then create lesson plans each week, which will be designed to engage and motivate the child in their learning. I have a variety of resources to make sure that I can create the best teaching methods that will suit each individual child, to deepen their understanding and to get the best results.
