I am in my early 50's. I have an Honours degree in Pure Mathematics. I have recently revised the Higher Maths syllabus and can teach any pupil up to CFE Higher level including the new National 4 and 5 levels created by the Curriculum for Excellence. I also tutor adults for eg. Int 1 maths for Access to Nursing, Police entry maths test, Maths for pilots. I am happy to travel within 25 minutes drive of Stirling or can tutor in my own home and am currently available 4 evenings a week, 3 weekday mornings and weekends.
I have 22 years experience as an Analyst Programmer where I tutored many people in analysis and programming of Actuarial calculations. The people I taught always found me patient and approachable. And I have been a maths tutor for 9 years.
My initial approach is to target the areas of maths where the pupil is experiencing problems. But if they have no idea of where to start, then I will take them through the whole course work till we find where the problem is. If there's no particular problem area; then I just reinforce what has been taught in school that week or practice past papers if they are sitting an exam at the end of their school year or practice for NAB's. For adults sitting other types of tests, I will aim to produce similar tests for practice and provide suitable learning material.
