I graduated in July 2022 with a First Class Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Edinburgh. I am both a passionate learner and teacher with a desire to help others reach their absolute fullest academic potential, building self confidence in the process. I enjoy sharing my in depth knowledge of the high school exam process, as well as my expert subject understanding, with my students in order to transform their self confidence and academic abilities, setting them up to surpass their most ambitious of academic goals.
At the University of Edinburgh I achieved Top of 1st Year Chemistry, Top of 2nd Year Chemical Engineering, Top of 3rd Year Chemical Engineering, Top of 3rd Year Process Dynamics and Control, Top of 5th Year Chemical Engineering and Top Graduate.
My work experience includes creating a mathematical model which made the first ever predictions of the mechanical properties of the coronavirus, as well as time spent designing a novel vaccine formulation. I also have experience of lecturing at a careers event as well as vast amounts of teaching/tutoring.

I went to Strathallan School where I was Deputy Head Boy and had full colours for academics and sport and half colours for music. I first began tutoring at school and so I now have over 5 years of tutoring experience. I was a member of the Scottish Alpine Ski Team and Strathallan 1st XV Rugby Team before playing semi-professional rugby with Sandal RFC.
I am now a full time maths and science tutor. This allows me to be flexible to find a lesson day and time that works best for my students.
I have tutored throughout my 5 years of university, tutoring over 50 students across a broad range of subjects, levels and exam boards. Every one of these students has built confidence, understanding and in depth knowledge of the subject, with improved grades being the end result.
For example, I have worked with a Higher student to improve them from a D to an A, a GCSE pupil from a 4 to an 8, a Nat 5 student from an E to an A, and helped multiple students achieve A stars.
I have extensive experience tutoring across all British high school exams including GCSE, NAT 4 and NAT 5, iGCSE, Higher, Advanced Higher and A-Level.
Since it has only been 5 years since I left school, the school examination process and the topics taught in each subject are still very fresh in my mind. Additionally, through studying a Masters Degree in a science related subject at university, I now have expert knowledge in the subjects which I tutor. I am therefore in the prime position to combine my in depth understanding of high school exams along with expert scientific knowledge to help students excel and achieve their academic goals. I do this in a relatable, enthusiastic, confidence building manner.
I believe that doing well in exams is not only about being good at a subject, it is also essential to know how to exam well (e.g. how to manage time, how to maximise marks, what to expect in the exam etc.) I enjoy sharing my well proven exam techniques with others in order to help them achieve the highest grades. I also enjoy sharing my well tested and perfected revision techniques which allow for students to make the best use of all revision time so that they can be perfectly prepared for any exam they sit.
Throughout lessons I work through topics with students which they previously found particularly challenging. I use examples and illustrations I create myself to aid their understanding and memory of complex topics. Once the student gains confidence in the topic, we then move on to topic-specific past paper questions, simultaneously cementing the student's understanding while also expertly preparing the student for their exams. I then set each student personalised homework, relevant to the topics covered in the lesson. I also provide students with a personalised study plan, as well as personalised subject notes.
Lastly, I provide homework assistance. Stuck on a homework question? Just send me a text or email and receive a rapid reply with an answer and explanation.
