This is how 2 referees rated Lydia:
I currently work at a mixed ability co-ed school but have experience of working with junior school pupils as well. I want to show pupils that English is more that just reading and writing and want to hopefully instill a life long love of literature and having fun with words. I have a 2.1 degree in English Literature and a PGCE certificate.
Having recently relocated to Sussex and I am currently teaching English full time at an independent co-ed school deep in the East Sussex countryside! I also run creative writing and debating co-curricular clubs.
I have previously taught in an independent mixed ability senior school in Croydon for over five years.
I have worked in a boys' grammar school in Kent as well as a non selective school in Kent.
I have tutored several GCSE pupils previously as well as common entrance exams for both Year 7 and year 9 entry. In all the schools I have taught at I have taught English (literature and language) to Yr7 -13.
I hope to bring a creative 'buzz' to my sessions and am enthusiastic about all things English. I like to use a mixture of different text and stimulus types to inspire imaginations and hopefully introduce pupils to new approaches and develop key skills. Most importantly I want my pupils to be confident in English- particularly those for whom English has previously proved a challenge! I am fully understanding of those with dyslexia having tutored and taught many pupils with this learning need.
