I was Head of Government and Politics at the 50th largest High School in the UK from 2008 and a History teacher there since 2006 before moving to a more senior role at another school. I am now also teaching maths at KS3 and GCSE. As a teacher of both History, Politics and maths I have wealth of knowledge and experience and as a senior teacher in a competitive high school I am able to offer the best advice and guidance for all students. As a father of three I know just how important a good education and good results can be and believe that my passion for all my subjects, but especially Politics, stand me apart from the crowd. I am a popular teacher and I believe this is because I am able to pass on my passion and enthusiasm and be on a level with my students.
I have been a teacher for 16 years now and have previously privately tutored. As a PGCE student at Leeds University I won the June Wenban Award for outstanding teacher and believe I have continued this throughout my career, never being judged below that of Good in observed lessons. I am passionate about the education of young people and the power it has to create social mobility. Having attained my NPQSL I believe I am yet further suited to passing on the relevant skills for students to achieve. I have taught across the ability range and from year 7 to 13 and have been instrumental in improving students grades and helping them to gain places at the very top universities.
I am friendly, approachable and fun and want to share my passion for knowledge with all my students. As a senior teacher I also realise the need to place emphasis on exam technique and giving in depth feedback on practice papers as the best way to prepare students for the rigours of the examinations. I appreciate the importance of giving constructive and meaningful feedback to pupils about how to develop their techniques. I believe in tailoring my teaching to the individual needs of the student and addressing any problems head on through constructive and engaging support.
