PE / Sport Science
I am a PE specialist at an SEBD school for children with emotional and behavioural difficulties. I am currently undergoing my teacher training in 14+ physical education at North Lindsey College. In the past I have worked with Hull FC's community foundation which delivers level 1, 2 & 3 sports courses to young adults. As well as teaching PE, I also teach KS3 entry level science to year 7 and 8. Sport and physical activities have always been huge part of my life as well as teaching, I soon realised that combining the two was a no-brainer!
Teaching is my 9-5 job and it is truly rewarding, especially when you see students attain the grades and satisfaction they desire from PE it makes everything worth while.
As well as being a big football, tennis, boxing and rugby league fan, as part of my sport science degree I was required to undertake vast amounts of research in sport, teaching and even medical science. It truly is a passion of mine and I have had the privilege of using breathtaking analysis equipment and also written a scientific thesis concerning eating disorders in female athletes in all types of sports.
PE is such an interesting subject and my goal is to share my knowledge of it with you.
After getting my degree in sport science I worked as a supply teacher in over 15 different schools across North Lincs, Hull and South Yorkshire before arriving at my current full time post.
I currently have PE classes ranging from Key stage 2 all the way through to GCSE and post-16 education courses (A-level and level 1-3)
Specific courses I have taught:
OCR Nationals, sport level 1 & 2
OCR Technicals, sport level 2, certificate, extended certificate and diploma
Key Stage 1, 2 & 3 Physical education
My Specialist areas:
Sports coaching and pedagogy
Training methods and fitness
Contemporary issues in sport
Having worked with SEN students it is very clear that it is my responsibility to make this subject interesting every single day, after all, people learn better when they are in a relaxed and laid back atmosphere, it's science!
Tutor sessions are there for you to gain extra help, weather you want to improve on specific modules within the curriculum or even if you want need exam/essay preparation and advice.
I make it my mission to motivate and give you the extra knowledge you need to get you exactly where you want to be.
My experience with this subject and its entire contents enables me and you to sit down and really identify what goals you want to achieve and what areas we should go through and I have proven in the past that this approach definitely works best.
