Personal Description:

Awaiting graduation from the University of Nottingham as a Master of research in Neuroimaging, I wish to share my knowledge and experience with others until decidedly coming to a more professional role. My background has a deep root in Psychology from A-level through to my current studies. During this time I have moved through various schools of Psychology: Developmental, Social, Cognitive and Biological, to name a few. Grasping a further interest in the Biological aspects of Psychology has driven me to my current destination in Neuroimaging. Along this journey through to the Masters degree I have gained insight into research skills, ranging from: writing a dissertation/report writing, statistical analysis and how to run experimentation following laboratory protocol.

Tutoring Experience:

My teaching experiences are currently of an informal method. As being the appointed course representative for my MSc my peers sought assistence on numerous matters. Many of these were queries regarding the current content of the course. This enabled me to enhance my coaching skill and become someone they could rely on and trust with any concerns. It is here I realised my potential for communicating deep information with national and international students alike.

Tutoring Approach:

Back at high school I too had a personal tutor for a short while, this helped develop a confidence in answering exam questions and tackling new and unfamiliar problems. It made me realise that learning happens in an environment of mutual respect in which the student is encouraged to think and make new connections for themselves. One-to-one personal tuition has a unique value to students because of the ability to resolve the students’ personal barriers to learning. This allows the foundations for a deep and lasting understanding of the subject.
