I am currently working as a PhD researcher at the University of Leeds, focussing on American poetry. I am a postgraduate with a distinguished M.Phil in American Literature from Trinity College Dublin. I also have a First Class Honours degree in English Literature from the University of Glasgow. I offer tuition in both English literature and English Language. I am highly proficient in both of these areas and am familiar with current GCSE, A-level and undergraduate expectations.
I teach English Literature to undergraduates in a seminar environment at the University of Leeds. Previously, I taught English at Japan women’s University, Tokyo. I have three years experience as a personal tutor. I have worked as a one to one tutor in schools both in the UK and America. I worked in a primary school in Harewood and so have ample experience in education. My approach to teaching is informed by this personalised and individualised environment.
I like to engage directly with the primary texts set by the exam board. This means a series of questioning to develop understanding. Once this understanding has been fully absorbed, I then approach the importance of exam technique. I like to ask students in our first meeting what they want to take away from the sessions.
