I am currently working as a PhD researcher at the University of Leeds, focussing on American poetry. I am a postgraduate with a distinguished M.Phil in American Literature from Trinity College Dublin. I also have a First Class Honours degree in English Literature from the University of Glasgow. I offer tuition in both English literature and English Language. I am highly proficient in both of these areas and am familiar with current GCSE, A-level and undergraduate expectations.
I have taught English at the University of Leeds and Japan women’s University, Tokyo. I have two years experience as a personal tutor. I have worked as a one to one tutor in schools both in the UK and America. I worked in a primary school in Harewood and so have ample experience in education. I am currently researching towards a PhD which requires seminar teaching. My approach to teaching is informed by this personalised and individualised environment.
I like to engage directly with the primary texts set by the exam board. This means a series of questioning to develop understanding. Once this understanding has been fully absorbed, I then approach the importance of exam technique.
